Holiday Inn Resort Orlando Suites - Waterpark (formerly known as Holiday Inn Family Suites , Nickelodeon Family Suites by Holiday Inn , and Nickelodeon Suites Resort ) is an all-suite hotel in Orlando, Florida, United States, near Universal Orlando Resort and one mile from Walt Disney World Resort. This is a Holiday Inn Resort. From 2005 to 2016, this hotel is themed after the Nickelodeon children's television channel.

The resort features one to three bedroom suites and two water parks, Laguna Pool and Oasis Pool. The "4-D" movie theater uses SimEx-Iwerks technology, a 3,000 square foot arcade, golf course, multi-level basketball court and family game events held at the hotel, and the "Nick After Dark" event location was also held at the hotel. The resort previously contains a mall with a Nickelodeon branded retail store and a buffet known as "Nicktoons Cafe," among other restaurants. Near the resort entrance there is a time capsule previously buried outside the former Studio Nickelodeon complex near Universal Studios Florida.

Nickelodeon Suites Resort was named one of the top ten family vacation spots in 2010, and in 2011, the hotel was the first to receive the AHLEI Certified Guest Services Listing.

Histori

The original hotel opened on July 7, 1999, and was given the brand "Holiday Inn Family Suites." At a press conference on October 9, 2003 in New York City, Holiday Inn and Nickelodeon announced a partnership and hotel renovation, which would turn it into a Nickelodeon Family Suites by Holiday Inn.

In 2005, a $ 25 million hotel renovation ended with a Commemoration Day event to promote the reopening of the hotel. At this time, the resort is starting to host two nightly game shows, titled Nick Live and The Knows Best (the Double Dare themed game is added in 2012).

Nickelodeon Suites Resort began offering customized wedding packages in 2009. In 2014, the resort launched "Summer of Shell," adding the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - themed rooms and laser labyrinths based on performances. In August 2014, the Guinness World Record (for most people in one place dressed as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) was damaged in the hotel's Lagoon Pool with 1,394 participants. Later that same year, the hotel promoted the premiere of Dora and Friends: Into the City! with a preschool-themed show featuring a costume character from Bubble Guppies , Dora Explorer , Little Bill , The Umizoomi Team , Wonder Pets! and Julius Jr.

The year 2015 marks the tenth year of the resort by the name of Nickelodeon and the hotel hosts the weekly celebration event from March 6 to November of that year.

Rebranding

On January 29, 2016, Nick Hotel posted an official statement on their website stating that, effective April 18, 2016, the hotel will be renamed Holiday Inn. The Nickelodeon experience is set to stop after April 30, 2016, but is extended until May 31, 2016, after the image changes are pushed back to June 1, 2016. Some time before the closing of the resort, the time capsule previously held at the resort was transferred to Nickelodeon Animation Studios in Burbank, California, leaving Orlando for the first time since his first funeral. The change of name was probably because a new partnership with Karisma Hotel to open the Nickelodeon resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, may not be updated, and the popularity of the brand is declining in the area. The resort was renamed Holiday Inn Resort Orlando Suites - Waterpark on June 1, 2016.
