Shoe Carnival Inc. is an American family shoe retailer. The company operates 419 stores throughout the central, southern and southeastern regions. The company was founded by David Russell in 1978 and is headquartered in Evansville, Indiana.
The company sells men's, women's, children's, and athletic footwear through its retail stores. The shops also offer accessories such as handbags, wallets, shoe care items, and socks. The main difference in the carnival Shoes store is the concept. The concept of Carnival Shoes creates the urgency to buy through the promotion of limited time and microphones. The majority owner of the company is J. Wayne Weaver, former owner of Jacksonville Jaguars. Weaver was born in Columbus, Georgia. Weaver worked up the corporate ladder at the St. John-based Wohl Shoe Company. Louis, division of Brown Group, Inc. In 1978, he went to set up his own shoe company, which he sold in the 1990s.

In 2006 the company began to build a $ 40 million headquarters and distribution center. The Shoe Carnival carnival center is now located in a 60,000 square foot building (5,600m 2 ) at the Cross Pointe Commerce Center on the east side of town. The 410,000 square foot distribution center (38,000 m 2 ) was built in Indiana 57 north of the city.
