Radio promotion is the division of the recording company billed by placing songs on the radio. They maintain contact with program directors on radio stations and try to persuade them to play singles to promote the sale of recordings, such as CDs, sold by record companies. They may also pay fees to a third party, known as an independent promoter, who has financial ties to the radio station or its parent company.
