Histori

Markus Frind, CEO and Founder of PlentyOfFish Media Inc., graduated in 1999 from the British Columbia Institute of Technology with a diploma in Computer Systems Technology.

In 2004, PlentyOfFish became a full-time business for Frind. He runs the site independently until 2008, when he started hiring another employee at his new headquarters in Vancouver. In 2009, PlentyOfFish also launched a contest with Lady Gaga allowing single members to go along and meet singers during The Fame Ball Tour.

The website for PlentyOfFish appeared in several music videos in 2010: in "Phone" Lady Gaga, "Touch" from Natasha Bedingfield, Ke $ ha "We R Who We R", Flo Rida and Akon "Available", Jason Derulo's "Ridin 'Solo ", and 3OH! 3 "Double Vision". In 2011, appeared in Britney Spears music video for "Hold It Against Me". Many of these appearances are the secret placement of paid products that have met with very negative reviews.

In 2010, PlentyOfFish launched a mobile app for iPhone and Android. But now also available on iPad, and Windows phones. As of May 2013, about 70% of PlentyOfFish logins come from mobile devices. In a June 2014 interview, Frind edited this number and now associates 85% of all PlentyOfFish traffic to mobile with an increasing number each week.

On January 21, 2011, it was discovered that the PlentyOfFish website has been hacked that exposes personal information and passwords on nearly 30 million user accounts. Since the alleged hacking incident, Frind alleges he has identified people he believes are responsible for the hack, and accuses him of threatening legal action in response to widespread negative media exposure. At this time, global media receive exposure and security experts blame PlentyOfFish for the security and privacy that specifically to keep the user's passwords unsecured.

On February 28, 2012, the parent of the US Army Lieutenant Peter Burks sued PlentyOfFish. The demands of parents accuse the photograph of their son, who died in Iraq in 2007, was used without permission. Parents seek redress and punishment.

In an August 2012 interview, Markus Frind stated that based on the millions of relationships and marriages that PlentyOfFish has made over the past few years, it is estimated that over a million babies were born as a result of the website.

On May 20, 2013, Frind applied some changes to the website with the stated purpose of focusing on "meaningful relationships." Among these changes is the removal of the "intimate meeting" option. A related feature that is omitted is the option of contacting clients of an age difference greater than "Mark," possibly Frind, found to be tasteful. Although the PlentyOfFish site and the "fit" criteria continue to match those with age differences greater than the 14-year guideline, attempts to contact "matches" result in an inbox message from Mark stating, among other things, "[t] here is no reason a 50-year-old man to contact an 18-year-old woman. "Other implementations included with the changes no longer allow male users to attach pictures to messages.

On March 25, 2015, Plentyoffish Media Inc. paid $ 48,000 as part of an attempt to allege violations of Canadian Anti-Spam Law (CASL). It is the second company in Canada to be convicted by the CRTC under enforcement of this law.
