Keeper of Promise is an Evangelical Christian organization for men. Although originating in the United States, an independent branch was established in Canada and New Zealand.
The Promise Keeper described himself as "a Christ-centered organization dedicated to introducing people to Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord, helping them grow as Christians." The Promise Keeper is a non-profit organization, not affiliated with any Christian church or denomination, opposing same-sex marriage and the sanctity of warriors and marriage allegiance. Their most publicized events are mass actions held at soccer stadiums and similar venues. They also sell a variety of promotional products to "help men keep their promises," including clothing, books, and music. Bruce Wilkinson developed the widely used video curriculum, Personal Sanctity in Times of Temptation, as part of "The Biblical Manhood" series for Promise Keepers. Their organizational model has been imitated by other religious movements.

Histori
Promise Keepers was founded in 1990 by Bill McCartney, then head coach of football at the University of Colorado Boulder.
According to PK's website, McCartney was inspired by Promise Keepers on March 20, 1990, after switching from Catholicism during a conversation with Dave Wardell, when the two attended the Fellowship of Christian Athletes banquet in Pueblo, Colorado. He imagined his home stadium, Boulder's Folsom Field, to be used as a meeting "for training and teaching what it means to be a righteous person".
Joseph's Covenant Keepers was also founded in 1990 by Steve Wood after he switched from Protestantism and followed the challenge by Pope John Paul II, opening the Family Life Center two years later.
In July 1990, 72 people met at Boulder Valley Christian Church in Boulder to organize what would be the first Promise Keepers event at the University Event Center of Colorado. Since then, membership of the Keeper of the Promise has gradually grown. At the first official PK conference in July 1991, about 4200 were present. It was founded as a non-profit organization in the state of Colorado in December 1990.
What Makes Man? , the first hardcover book of Promise Keepers written for the organization, was published by Navplan Navigation's publishing arm in 1992 for its first Folsom Field meeting in June of that year. James Dobson owns McCartney on his national Focus on the Family radio program that same month. McCartney resigned from his coaching position in 1994 to focus his attention on the organization.
The event promised by the Keeper Keeper was an open-air meeting at the National Mall in Washington, DC on October 4, 1997. C-SPAN hosted the event live as a whole. Attendance figures vary but are estimated to be between 600,000 and 800,000. This may be the peak, with the organization halving its office staff four months later because of financial problems and a $ 60 registration fee for regional rallies declining in some areas. The presence and finance of the rally continue to suffer and the planned millennium planned to take part in the capital of each country is canceled.
The Promise Keeper expands at the same time his organization outside the United States, setting up Promise Keepers International that holds the "Summit" in at least seven languages ââand has set up chapters in other countries.
McCartney resigned as president on October 1, 2003 after personal leave. Thomas Fortson, formerly group executive vice president for administration and operations since 1996, became president and CEO of the group on the same day.
On September 10, 2008 McCartney quit his five-year retirement to become a Promise Keepers CEO/Chairman. Along with McCartney's placement, Raleigh Washington, former vice president of Promise Keepers for service advancement and collaborative partner Road to Jerusalem, McCartney, was appointed president of the Promise Keepers.

Feminism, maturity, and race
Feminism
The National Organization for Women (NOW), the American feminist organization, has expressed the view that the Promise Keeper poses a threat to women's rights. NOW accuses that the group encourages inequality in marriage and teaches the doctrine of male superiority.
According to Amy Schindler, "the discourse of masculinity found in conservative religious movements, such as the Promise Keeper and the Victorian movement of" muscular Christianity, "is inherently political. Each masculinity project aimed at restoring or reclaiming the 'traditional' for white men, preferential heterosexuals have a political impact on class tapestries, races, and gender powers. "Browyn academic Kara Conrad argues that organizations reproduce troubled sexual scripts such as Madonna's view of women's sexuality and the view of male sex drive as uncontrollable. Other scholars argue that, although their initial appearance is pro-feminist, the Promise Keeper builds on patriarchal assumptions, including making men actors in families, churches, and the world, and that they expect women to be passively dependent.
The group was also criticized for its inconsistent doctrinal and doctrinal compromises. Raymond Hartwig, former president of South Dakota District of the Missouri Lutheran Church, commented: "They use the Bible in a very simple form, as a springboard to jump into law."
Manhood
The organization places special emphasis on godly maturity, with an emphasis on the role of father. John Bartkowski sees the leadership of the Promise Keepers that spawned two types of maturity: first, an essential appeal to gender differences advocated by Edwin Louis Cole that emphasizes aggression, strength, and rationality; second, is Gary Oliver's "expressive maturity," which says that all the attributes that are now traditionally associated with women are practiced by Jesus, and that men must reconnect with their sensitive sides. According to a Yeshiva University study, when it comes to dad's problems, organizations tend to be more conservative, still supportive of heterosexists, male dominance in families.
