The Razer Hydra (formerly known as Sixense TrueMotion ) is a motion detection and orientation controller developed by Sixense Entertainment, a company founded in 2007, in partnership with Razer USA. It uses a weak magnetic field to detect absolute position and control orientation with precision, as stated by the developer, 1 mm and 1 à °; it has six degrees of freedom. The current release is wired, but the wireless version is under development.
The game's controllers have been exhibited many times with a variety of video games and 3D modeling apps, the most prominent Counter-Counter: Global Attack , Portal 2 , Fortress Tim 2 Left 4 Dead 2 , World of Goo , Call of Duty: Black Ops and Half-Life 2 me.
A partnership with Valve Corporation was announced, and said the company emerged as a partner, alongside Razer and Intel. No word is said by game developers but they help Valve modify Left 4 Dead 2 and other Valve games to play with Razer Hydra Motion controls, and the official SDK is available for download in Steam's' Tool page.
It was subject to a demo by the name of Sixense Truemotion and tested to a close focus group of PlayStation Underground Members in August 2008, where full functionality in various types of games was displayed.
Now called Razer Hydra and has been released through the official website of Steam and Razer on June 16, 2011, for US $ 139.99. It's sold in bundles with Portal 2 , which has exclusive content for those with a controller. Support for many other games is implemented or planned. According to a forum post, from December 2010, Sixense also works on music control with the controller.

The Razer Hydra is bundled with an enhanced version of Portal 2 . It features a more advanced portal gun with new gameplay mechanics. One new capability is the Surfing Portal, which allows portals to drag, move, and rotate portals well after they are created. The other is a 1-to-1 mode with object bearing blocks from the gun portal, which allows you to extend the rays of many meters and freely move and rotate objects that are carried in 6 degrees of freedom.
This includes complete game Portal 2 , plus a new set of tutorials for teaching new mechanics, and two sets of levels based on the new mechanism.
The default controls for the game allow players to browse, or move and rotate the objects or portals that are carried, by moving their right hand. Move your left hand up, or push the button on the right controller, make you jump. The left analog stick controls movement. Fire trigger or move portal.
