Violation of moving is a violation of the law by the driver of the vehicle while in motion. The term "movement" distinguishes it from other motor vehicle violations, such as document infringement (which includes offenses involving car insurance, registration and inspection), parking violations, or equipment violations.

Moving violations are usually classified as a minor offense or violation, but serious offenses such as hit-and-run, under-impact driving, and street rage may be considered a crime.

Cost

A mobile violation involves a penalty to be paid as well and sometimes a point penalty is assessed for the driver's license. When a driver accumulates points, he or she may be required to attend defensive driving lessons, retrieve the driving test, pay additional taxes, or even submit a license. In addition, drivers with more points on their driving record often have to pay more for car insurance than drivers with less.

Sometimes tickets are used in speed traps as a form of fundraising. For example, local governments that are under-budgeted may bid more aggressively within their jurisdiction to increase revenue.

In the United States, fines quotes can vary widely between jurisdictions for the same behavior, usually between $ 25 and $ 1000. In countries like Finland, however, they are a certain proportion of offenders income, and fines of more than $ 100,000 may be assessed for people rich. In Canada, each province is an individual in the way they treat the same behavior and each offense usually includes the points of fines and losses assigned to the driver's license. For example, a speeding ticket in Ontario 50 km more is 6 demerit points against a driver's license with an estimated fine counted as (km more than x 9.75) x 1.25, as well as carrying a one-week automatic suspension and car containment. In Manitoba, the speed of more than 49 km is 8 points of demerit and a fine of 557 dollars.
