Kabaneri from the Iron Fortress ( ???????? , K? tetsuj? no Kabaneri ) is an anime series by Wit Studio. The series was directed by Tetsur? Araki and written by Ichir? ? kouchi, with music by Hiroyuki Sawano and original character design by Haruhiko Mikimoto. The series airs on the Fuji TV Noitamina block on April 8, 2016 and ends on June 30, 2016 for a total of 12 episodes. Prologue for anime aired for a week in cinemas across Japan starting March 18, 2016. Amazon streamed this series on their Amazon Prime Instant Video service. Two compilation movies aired in Japanese theaters on December 31, 2016 and January 7, 2017. Crunchyroll and Funimation will jointly release anime on Blu-ray and DVD in the United States; Crunchyroll also earned merchandise.

Mobile game developed by TriFort, Inc. and published by DMM Games titled K? Tetsuj? no Kabaneri -Ran- Hajimaru Michiato ( ???????? -? - , lit. "Kabaneri from the Iron Fortress -Revolt- Start Trek ") is scheduled for release in Q3 2018 on Android and iOS, displaying animated opening sequences by Wit Studio. An anime theater movie which is set six months after the anime series, titled Kabaneri from the Iron Fortress: The Battle of Challenging Unato ( ????????? ???? , K? tetsuj? no Kabaneri: Unato Kessen ) , is currently in production.

Plot

A mysterious virus emerged during the industrial revolution that transformed the infected human into Kabane ( ??? , "corpse") and quickly spread. Kabane is an aggressive creature, undefeated corpse except the luminous heart, protected by a tin layer, pierced, or an important part of the body completely disconnected (like the head). Unfortunately, the melee weapons and steam pressure weapons used by bushi ( ?? , "soldier") are not very effective against them.

The soundtrack was composed by Hiroyuki Sawano and released by Aniplex on May 18, 2016. The opening theme is "Kabaneri dari Benteng Besi" by Egoist and the cover theme is "ninelie" by Aimer with chelly. For episode 11, the closing theme is "Through My Blood & lt; AM & gt;" by Aimer.
